“KANAL D”, televiziune ce se afla in top trei statii generaliste din Romania, a emis pentru prima data pe 1 martie 2007, ca parte a celei mai mari companii de media din Turcia, Doğan Yayin Holding. Sustinut de experinta si traditia trustului Doğan Yayin Holding, KANAL D si-a fixat ca obiectiv continuarea acestui model de succes si in Romania. Continutul de calitate ce combina cu succes programe de Stiri cu seriale turcesti si productii proprii, inovatoare, dar si productiile realizate dupa formate internationale, sunt pilonii pe care s-au construit, de la bun inceput, institutia media, dar si filosofia KANAL D.

Punerea in practica a acestei viziuni si-a aratat, in curand, efectele: la 5 ani de la intrarea pe piata media din Romania, KANAL D a ajuns in topul primelor 3 televiziuni generaliste din Romania, fiind statia cu cea mai mare crestere de audienta zilnica, +133%, respectiv +141% in prime time, din 2005 pana in 2011.

In 2015 Ianuarie KANAL D isi consolideaza pozita a 3-a cu un market share de 7,5% in prime time (18:00-24:00) si se distanteaza considerabil fata de ocupantul locului 4.

Evolutia constanta a statiei, cu o pozitie consolidata in top 3 televiziuni generaliste, este asigurata de o abordare proprie in ceea ce priveste modelul de business si, in special, continutul. Serialele turcesti sustin abordarea inovativa a KANAL D, consolidandu-i pozitia de trendsetter intr-un gen de fictiune ce abordeaza o lume complet diferita si exotica pentru publicul autohton. In 2008 KANAL D a inceput difuzarea primului serial turcesc, „Binbir Gece “ (“1001 de nopti”) fiind prima televiziune din zona Balcanilor care a deschis drumul spre o noua etapa in istoria televiziunii. Succesul serialelelor turcesti s-a dovedit a fi categoric odata cu difuzarea serialului-fenomen, „Suleyman – Muhtesem Yuzil” (“Suleyman Magnificul”). Cel mai controversat serial din Turcia a fost, timp de 4 sezoane, lider absolut in audiente pe intervalul sau orar si a transformat Kanal D intr-un competitor imposibil de ignorat. Traditia celor mai bune seriale turcesti continua cu productii precum: “Feriha”, “Oyle Bir Gecer Zaman ke “ (“Tradarea”) si “Medcezir” (“Yaman”).
